There is plenty of time left before the elections, and then too politicians and journalists have already begun to throw mud over each other. With Hillary Clinton leading all other Democratic contenders for President, it is no wonder that critics are waiting for their chance.
Hillary’s Remarks on Bush:
New York Senator, Hillary Clinton drew intense criticism while addressing black audiences at a church in Harlem. There, she openly spoke against the Republicans, and especially George Bush. She began her speech by mentioning that Republican politicians had got used to run the house like a plantation, and that the Bush Administration would go down as the worst one in the American History. Hillary Clinton, who never got to serve the House of Representatives made this comment in front of packed black audiences and mentioned that when the functioning of the House of Representatives, if observed in recent years, has become similar to running a plantation. These remarks drew angry responses from certain sections. House of Representatives Speaker, Dennis Hastert clearly called the remarks to be a bit over the top. Furthermore, the speaker completely refuted the allegations of running plantations and went on to mention that, in case Hillary was trying to be racist, it would be unfortunate. Peter King, a Congressional colleague from New York went on to say that the New York Senator needs to be ashamed of her remarks. Further, Peter King mentioned that Hillary took advantage of the mostly black audience in order to play her race cards.
Defenders of Hillary:
Some activists however defended Hillary Clinton. These people mentioned that they themselves had protested against George Bush and his policies. They spoke the same words as Hillary did at the Harlem Church. Some defenders of Hillary have also pointed out to the speech made in 1994, by Newt Gingrich just after the Republicans took control of the senate, wherein it was mentioned by Gingrich that the Democrats think that it was their Job to run the plantation. This was actually shocking news that the republicans were going to lead the slave rebellion. Another spokesperson refuted the criticism and said that the GOP was actually trying to suppress a meaty debate.
